Burning of household waste that contains plastic, rubber, foam, chemically treated wood, textiles, electronics, chemicals or hazardous materials is illegal and if reported will result in the Fire Department being dispatched to extinguish the fire and you being charged with a fire run. Paper, cardboard and untreated wood can be burned in a barrel or incinerator.

Open burning on the ground – Air and waste regulations allow the open burning of trees, logs, brush , stumps , grass clippings and leaves as long as the burning occurs at least 1,400 feet outside the limits of an incorporated city or village. A burn permit is required for trees, logs, brush, stumps or grass clippings. A burn permit is not required for leaves.
